WHAT IS LEAN-KANBAN?

Alan Shalloway, Net Objectives

The foundational tenet of Lean is, “focus on shortening cycle time.” Productivity will follow. In other words, Lean is based on the hypothesis that shortening cycle time raises productivity by reducing the delays that make error detection more difficult and it lowers cost because this delay in error detection increases the amount of work needing to take place.

Lean-Kanban is a set of practices and principles that make it accessible to bring the benefits of Lean theory to organizations that use technology in their development and/or operations work. Benefits include establishing a manageable workload based on the team's capacity, on reducing disruptions and delays, on creating greater alignment across an organization, and on building a culture of engaged workers who have the ability to bring positive change to their work.
